A hidden gem
I recently read an article that referred to "instagram spots". If you use Instagram and follow any travel influencers, then you know those certain waterfalls in Bali or Nusa Penida, Santorini, or Navagio beach in Greece. These are all incredibly beautiful areas that I would definitely like to visit some day but I find greater pleasure in finding equally stunning places that are less known about. This waterfall in Costa Rica is one of them.
While I'm dying to go to the Taj Mahal, Santorini, and waterfalls in Bali, there's nothing like stumbling upon beautiful sights that you know not many others have seen.
This is one of those places- one of the most breathtaking waterfalls I have ever seen. While it could compete with any famous waterfall with a crowd of tourists, I can confidently say that this waterfall has a very small Instagram life, if any, besides the photos that I have posted.
In Costa Rica, a local tico told me and 2 friends that he could take us on a horseback ride to a nearby waterfall. I was expecting it to be like most of the other waterfalls in the area, still beautiful, but much smaller. It ended up being a long and strenuous trip that included hours of horseback riding, a hike down a rough and muddy "path" and then walking through a river to get there.
We were all blown away when we got there and this is actually only a small fraction of it. There was a whole other side on the left and it continued up much farther. I treasure this experience so deeply because it was so unique. Do you have any places or experiences like this?
